Ellen Bourassa

Ellen contributes expertise in adult teaching and learning to the Learning Curves instructional team. Her role is to ensure that instruction is well-founded on current learning theory research and sound principles of adult education. As a professional educator, her focus is providing excellence in educational experiences for adult learners through excellence in instruction.

As Chair of Academic Programs at Aurora College Yellowknife for nine years she administered and managed diverse programs in both the Campus and community locations. She was responsible for the planning and delivery of academic programs such as teacher education, adult education and career development as well as developmental and access studies, literacy, and second language programing. In this role Ellen developed skills in instructor supervision, program evaluation, budget management and team planning.

Ellen is a trained Instructional Skills Workshop facilitator. She regularly delivered ISW workshops for College professional development initiatives.

Ellen is an experienced course designer. She specializes in program planning and course design for both face-to-face and distance learning. She currently plans and delivers courses in adult education for the Aurora College Certificate of Adult Education Program.

Her Masters studies focused on professional development. She draws upon her knowledge of this aspect of adult education to collaborate on the planning and design of the Witness Preparation Program.
